Automobile companies have a big vision for the year 2020, in terms of both surpassing technological limits and creativity. Ford Mustang, too, has an interesting hybrid coming up that year. The company aims to also introduce Transit, F-150 hybrids, and an all-electric small SUV. The electric SUV will represent the brand’s renewed electric vehicle push, which is estimated to deliver a range of at least 300 miles. The SUV is scheduled to be available across Asia, Europe, and North America.
Where are these cars going to be manufactured? At Ford’s Flat Rock assembly plant in Michigan.
Would you believe me if I told you that Ford has invested over 4.5 billion dollars in electrified powertrains? And in fact, that amount has now been increased by 700 million dollars! This is the sort of commitment that literally brings Ford Mustang to the front of the race.
The company also plans to introduce a hybrid autonomous car and two brand new hybrid police cars too. Now we will have to wait and see what kind of engines Ford plans to use for these hybrid vehicles. What we do know is that the Mustang is speculated to offer a V8 power followed by an even more low-end torque. Based on this, we could assume that the car will have a smaller engine that will be powered by electricity, which is essentially an electric engine.
I’ve read that in 2017, Ford will begin testing its new generation of EV technology. The company is also testing a fleet of over 20 Transit Connect hybrid taxi and van prototypes in some of the world’s most challenging traffic conditions.
Ford’s 2020 plans revolve around connectivity, electrification, and definitely autonomy. What I will personally be looking forward to, is the company’s brand new wireless charging method that was recently announced at a press conference.
As an additional advantage, Ford will be directly employing over 700 new people. When will these beauties be released in the market? Assuming right after their introduction in 2020. Can't wait to check them out!
