6 of the Hottest Concept Cars of 2016

There has been a lot of activity in the world of concept cars this year. They have been an important part of the biggest motor shows, automobile launches, and media stories. The slew of new concept cars covers everything from extremely luxurious ones to eco-friendly supercars. These are some of the best concept cars introduced in 2016.

1. Cadillac Escala

The epitome of true American luxury, the CT6, has a newer sibling in Cadillac Escala, and the future flagship is classy yet bold. Its presence is stunning and simply gorgeous. The interiors are airy and incorporate pale suit fabric. The dashboard uses curved screen technology to deliver information to the driver. This one is probably one of those concepts that is much easier to get into production. With not much fancy technology that is difficult to mass produce, we sure wish it hits the production lines soon.

2. Renault Trezor

The Trezor is pure art. It would fit in perfectly on the ramp at a fashion show. The design is stunning from every angle and the top, a one-piece roof resembles and opens like a fighter jet's canopy. The cabin is bright red and hidden underneath is an electric powertrain that can get you to 100km/h in just 4 seconds.

3. Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6

The huge mean machine is a throwback design that packs a punch. It's not just gracefully shaped but the extra-long bonnet transports you to the good old days when excess was most celebrated. The car packs batteries and electric motors that have a 500 km range.

4. BMW Vision Next 100

This one is a drive into the future with BMW technology. Self-driving is the theme with the car that comes with an 'assistant'. The car even takes different forms using movable triangular elements under which the wheels are hidden. They greatly reduce the drag coefficient. The movement is here to stay, even in the cabin which has steering wheels that move into place in self-driving modes and give the driver more space to interact freely with others and the steering wheels come back out when in manual drive mode. Even the windshield is adjustable depending on which mode you are driving in.

5. Buick Avista

Buick Avista, despite being from the maker that is not particularly known for design, is one of the most beautiful concept cars out there. It has the perfect proportions and luxurious, airy and bright interiors. It has an 8-speed automatic gearbox and packs the twin-turbo V6. Magnetic Ride Control on this beauty allows you to change the suspension's rigidity from rock hard to super smooth at the push of a button. Although all of the parts are already in production for different vehicles, there are no plans to put it into production yet.

6. DS E-Tense

This one has a sensuous shape with the revival of the legendary DS badge into its own brand. French design makes a dramatic entrance with this beauty. This is a gorgeous and modern electric car, as good as any other sports car out there. The monster electric powertrain boasts 402 horsepower and it is the interior that steals the show. Inspired by watch straps, Citroen makes it truly inspiring with a sculpted steel dashboard. Sadly, however, this one too won't make it to production.
