Put an iconic auto designer and an industry powerhouse in one room together, and the VLF Force 1 is what comes out. At the recent 2016 Detroit Auto Show, the US-based VLF Automotive introduced the Force 1, a two-seat, high-performance sports car.
The VLF Force 1 was designed by legendary automotive designer Henrik Fisker, best known for his creation on iconic cars such as BMW Z8, the Aston Martin Vantage, Destino V8, Fisker Karma, and Artega GT. Born in Denmark, Henrik Fisker is an entrepreneur, innovator, mentor, brand ambassador and a leading car designer. Fisker is also the founding partner and head of design and product strategy at VLF Automotive, a US-based luxury sports car company he founded with Bob Lutz and Gilbert Villareal.
The VLF Force 1 embodies everything that VLF Automotive stands for, American-made, high-quality, high-performance and ingenuity. The Force 1 features carbon fiber-bodied and 21-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires and Brembo high-performance brakes. Th engine is based on the 8.4 liter V10 in the Dodge Viper, which has been modified to produce 745 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 638 lb-ft of peak torque at 5,000 rpm, allowing the Force 1 to reach 60 mph in just 3 seconds and a top speed of 218 mph.
VLF Automotive hopes to challenge rival sports car makers such as Aston Martin and Lamborghini with its Force 1, which has a top speed of 218 mph or 350 kph. The company has a state-of the-art development and manufacturing facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It also has design and technology centers in Los Angeles, California. Along with the Corvette-powered VLF Destino, the Force 1 is the second product from the American sports car manufacturer.
VLF Automotive plans to start productions in April. But with a whopping $268,000 initial price tag, the car is going to be exclusive. Production will take place in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
