Lamborghini has decided to pay tribute to Ferruccio Lamborghini on what would have been his 100th birthday had he still been alive. How you ask? By designing the brand new 217-mph Lamborghini Centenario!
Who was Ferruccio Lamborghini?
He was an Italian industrialist who entered the business of manufacturing tractors in 1948, all thanks to his profound mechanical knowledge. His company did extremely well during the post-World War II economic boom. From there, it was no looking back. Ferruccio was set to etch his name in the automobile industry. His vision led to the creation of amazing automobiles that literally made history for the super sports cars we see today.
Now back to Lamborghini Centenario!
The car made its debut during the 2016 Geneva Auto Show, and it made quite a few heads turn. It is the perfect blend of both precise engineering skills and innovative design, thanks to the relentless work by the entire team at Lamborghini. The car is equipped with a 770 CV aspirated V12 engine springing from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2.8 seconds, claims the website. In fact, if you continue on this same track, you could easily reach 186 mph in about 23.5 seconds.
Centenario’s new rear-wheel-steering system reduces the turning circle which stabilizes high-speed handling, making it nothing less than a comfortable and manageable super car. The car’s interior is equipped with carbon-fiber sport seats and a performance data recorder that measures not just the lap time but speed and g-force as well. The Centenario’s form serves its aero-driven function while the grilles and flaps add to its bold demeanor.
This limited edition car has been produced especially for Lamborghini fans and collectors. The 40 Centenarios will include 20 Roadsters and 20 Coupés. The car will be delivered in the year 2017 and it is definitely going to be worth the wait.
The car echoes the thought of futuristic design, technological exploration and sheer innovation, elements very dear to Ferruccio. No wonder people are ready to shell out over $1.9 million for this beauty. Now nothing can beat this tribute!
