JTG Daugherty Racing has tagged Chris Buescher as number 37 for the 2017 race season.
Team owners Brad Daugherty and Jodi and Tad Geschickter released this information on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016. The 37 gives a nod to NASCAR's past and Dale Earnhardt, SR who forever made the 3 famous. Buescher’s team has an alliance with Richard Childress Racing, the owner of The Intimidator's 3 car. JTG Daugherty Racing's digit is stylized in the same font as RCR’s original 3. The 7 gives a nod to Daugherty's NASCAR past. It is borrowed from Daugherty’s launch team, the number 47 Chevrolet that AJ Allmendinger runs on the speedway.
The number 37 was last used during the 2014 season when Tommy Baldwin Racing assigned it to their car. Multiple drivers were behind the wheel of the former 37 car. The car number has a long history-- dating back to April 18, 1968. NASCAR Hall of Famer Bobby Isaac chalked up a win at Columbia Speedway on the dirt track on that date.
Who Are the Wheelmen For JTG Daugherty?
Chris Buescher is a Prosper, Texas native, and it is likely that his career will prosper in the Sprint Cup Series in 2017. His primary corporate sponsor in 2016 was Love’s Travel Stops. The 2016 rookie finished 16th on the season. He already found success in the 2015 NASCAR Xfinity Series as Champion, and he is the one to watch in 2017. It is likely that Chris Buescher will break into NASCAR's elite winner's circle while driving the 37 in 2017.
AJ Allmendinger finished 19th at the end of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup season. The California native is one of NASCAR's rising stars. He ended the season as a Top 10 average finisher, and that is a feat when running without a teammate. The ability to team up with Buescher for the draft and to work together to push to the front is a plus for JTG Daugherty in 2017.
JTG Daugherty is the new multicar team to watch in 2017! Be sure to keep an eye on the new number 37 during the weeks leading up to Daytona.
