Jaguar C-X75 in James Bond’s Spectre

Every James Bond film is action packed, and the 2015 SPECTRE wasn’t any different. For all supercar lovers, you’d agree that the hybrid Jaguar supercar in the movie was absolutely fabulous! The car was driven by Christoph’s wicked Franz Oberhauser in the latest Bond movie.

Now you might be familiar with the fact that most James Bond movies do use exotic supercars to up the style quotient; but what about the villains in such movies? Do they get to drive fancy cars? Well, Franz did!

The spectacular chase scene, where Franz pursues Bond’s DB10 in his own Jaguar C-X75, is pretty jaw-dropping. Through the streets of Rome, as they chased one another, I felt that the adrenaline rush was justified.

The C-X75 was revealed to the world as a concept car at the 2010 Paris motor show. It was essentially built to celebrate 75 years of Jaguar. In fact, that is precisely what its name stands for! Back then, the car had a pair of micro-gas turbine engines; but they couldn’t produce the sort of power Jaguar was looking for. So instead they converted the car into a plug-in hybrid. How you ask? Well, with an electric motor on each axle and a supercharged, turbocharged 1.6-litre engine. Thanks to this new development the C-X75 could generate 850bhp with a top speed of 200mph! The car can go from zero to 60mph in less than 3 seconds! Woah!

You have to lift the door of the cool Jaguar C-X75 instead of pulling it. The instant torque ensures that the supercar makes the most of its electric motors. The steering of the £1 million car is effortless and precise, while the seven-speed robotised manual gearbox is fun to play with. In spite of being such an amazing car, the C-X75 did not come on the streets due to the bad state of the global economy. Well, we can at least enjoy it in the movie!
